Losing a spouse is a life-threatening event that can have profound effects on the family left behind. Widows and their families often struggle to adjust to their new circumstances and deal with the emotional, financial, and practical challenges of their situation. We recognize the importance of providing support for widow’s families and we committed to helping them navigate this difficult time. That’s why we speak out on issues that impact those who experience loneliness. As noted in many parts of the world, widows face prejudice, stigmatization, and in some places, traditional dehumanization practices after the husband’s death in which most of our widows’ husbands have passed way in the war zones in whom they were forced to be soldiers. Widows are also stripped of their properties and told to fend for themselves. The world’s weight rests on their shoulders without help, they continue to suffer in silence.
The Widows Assistance Program works to improve the living conditions of vulnerable single mothers and disabled heads of households. They are lifted out of destitution and despair by supporting their basic needs monthly. The need grows as global conflict, disease outbreaks, and natural disasters rise. It is ever more vital that they get the attention and support they need.
We committed to help widows rebuild their lives through support and compassion and create a safe space for them and their children to heal through the grieving process. You can help us campaign for social inclusion through sharing your story, speaking to the media, or contacting us and giving us your views. We facilitate the process by which widows can regain their self-confidence.
Provisions like food, clothing, and hygiene kits, are given to disadvantaged families with a monthly gift of $40 will sustain perfect live of widow family living in a refugee camp. Women experiencing widowhood should not be marginalized. Advocating and supporting their needs will transform them from invisible women to empowered women.
