Elizabeth Daniel Misterlal

I am a young lady with an immersive ambition, dreaming of lifting my lineage through Tech Skills. I have completed my secondary school in Kakuma refugee camp in 2022. Lack of funds I didn’t manage to join College or University. But I am still keeping hope and believe, there will be a door for me one day.

After completing my high school studies, I decided to join ICT Training provided in Kakuma refugee camp and where I had a chance to seat for national exams with incredible results.

I work hard to survive and secure my future. I believe that my success depends on the social network around me. I believe God uses human beings to lift other human beings and therefore I am no exception. Born in a poor family, I have a conscience that only education can help me to stand as a destiny helper for my siblings and other people.

CIT: Communication & Information Technology:

By joining this career, I need to connect my basic and advanced skills in Information Communication Technology gained in my different learning journeys. Dreaming to become a professional software developer, I have attended different basic skills short courses in Software development which includes… where I can draft a professional and validated website and other social media.

Not only I feel to acquire highly in-demand tech skills is a way to land a decent job, but also my vision is to continue motivating, inspiring, and empowering girls to join STEM.

I am one of the girls who feel like girls like me are not well represented in tech skills, and this is due to a lack of inspiration and role models. To address this situation, I decided to empower many girls after completing my Basic Computer Applications at Advocacy Initiative for Youth Development. I believe that once given this opportunity, thousands of girls from my community, I mean refugees, will also benefit from my skills and knowledge.
