Economic Livelihood

Comprises the capabilities, assets, and activities required for a means of better living standards

Economic Livelihood:

Economic livelihood is the summation of ways in which households’ access, strengthen and maintain their cash and in-kind incomes to cover their essential needs (food, cash income, and assets such as savings, livestock, land etc.…).

Economic livelihood projects are important because they allow people to acquire the capabilities, knowledge, goods, and assets needed to live and sustain themselves. They can also contribute to food security, prevent dependency on others, and reduce vulnerability.

Here are some other benefits of economic livelihood:

  • Self-Reliance: People can become self-reliant and build useful skills.
  • Local Economies: People can contribute to the local economies of their host countries.
  • Safety: People can improve their safety and reduce their vulnerability.
  • Resilience: Households with many livelihood assets are more able to preserve their lives and property in the face of shocks. For example, they can afford to buy food when crops fail or sell some animals to build up their herds again after an emergency.
  • Sense of Identity: Sustainable livelihoods can provide a sense of identity and belonging.

In an attempt to safeguard our cornerstone mission for rebuilding, sustainable, resilient, safer and dignified society, the promotion of economic development emerged as an important aspect that will create a lasting impact on a community. Job providers purchase goods and services they need to operate, and their workers purchase goods and services they need to live. Money changes hands many times as it flows through the local economy and creates overall prosperity enjoyed by all citizens.

Our goal is to create sustainable livelihood programs that can provide many benefits, including but not limit to:

  • Economic Development: Sustainable livelihood programs can improve economic development and create jobs. Communities can become more self-sufficient by investing in local resources and infrastructure, which can reduce their reliance on external sources of income.
  • Poverty Reduction: Sustainable livelihood programs can help reduce poverty and vulnerability by providing access to assets and creating opportunities.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Sustainable livelihood programs can promote environmental sustainability by maintaining the health of the environment and reducing pollution.
  • Community Growth: Sustainable livelihood programs can support community growth by building strong social networks, shared values, and supportive institutions.
  • Well-being: Sustainable livelihood programs can promote well-being for individuals and communities.

“sustainability esuring the future of live on earth, is ab infinite game, the endless expression of generosity on behalf of all”
